Setting up an induction programme is an important part of a personnel manager’s job, as well as creating a staff handbook. It is important that all the staff know you and feel able to come to you with any problems. Personnel managers will also be involved in disciplinary procedures, and will produce reports for business planning and unions. A thorough knowledge of current labour laws is essential.
You will need to be able to deal with people easily, and the ability to train will be required. You will need to learn how best to recruit and counsel people, as well as being able to deal with disciplinary matters. Confidentiality is very important in this role. |
