More about Reception jobs
Many guests take their queries to reception, as well as complaints and other problems that are less easy to deal with, so you must be comfortable with handling complaints. You may be responsible for taking payment, and even exchanging foreign currency. You’ll be required to operate the switchboard, directing incoming calls and assisting guests to make external calls.
Administrative skills are important, so that you deal with queries and reservations accurately and efficiently, prepare guest bills correctly, and ensure that the necessary information goes to the departments with which the guest will come into contact. You will often also take messages for guests and take care of their valuables in safe deposit boxes or the hotel safe.
Key receptionist skills include telephone skills, guest relation skills and efficient complaint handling. You must enjoy dealing with the public, both on a one-to-one basis and over the phone. |
