Guide Hr Manager
Description:
Have you guided tour groups and travelled extensively through Southern and East Africa? Do you enjoy working with all the tourists and being their "go to person" - fullfilling their needs and listening to their queries? You have settled down - stopped travelling but still want to be be involved in the daily thrill of a guides life? Then this is your dream job come true.

We are currently one of the largest Adventure Tour Companies in Africa and are recruiting at our Head Office. We are seeking a honest, dynamic, experienced and hardworking GUIDE MANAGER to take on the full HR responsibility for our guides. You will form part of the rest of our Operations Department - reporting directly to the Ops Manager. In order to qualify for this position the ideal candidate will also be a strong individual who can work on his own and be part of the team - and take control of matters at hand. This individual will possess the following attributes and be fluent and professional in their daily conduct.

Duties will include (but not limited) to:
* Recruiting, interviewing and appointment of guides in accordance with the company's needs.
* Allocation of guides to the various tours - chosing the right man for the right job!!
* Pre-Tour briefing of guides - ensuring they receive all important tour related & client info.
* Liaison with guides whilst on tour to assist with operational problems.
* Rotation of Ops Standby Phone for emergency purposes and be on call for after hours operational problems.
* Assisting returning guides with finalization of tour finances to end off the tour.
* Post Tour debriefing of guides to finalise feedback and "close" tour.
* Liasion with other departments in order to asist guides with finances, mechanical breakdowns, etc.

The ideal candidate must possess the following attributes and skills:
* Strong Admin Skills
* Good People Skills
* Must be organised and meticulous
* Computer literacy a must
* Proficient user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
* Responsible & Trustworthy

Skills/Requirements:
The following additional skills will be hugely advantageous.
* FGASA qualification will most definately be adventageous.
* Good mechanical knowledge to asist guides and drivers with telephonic support during breakdowns.
* Willingness to work hard and long hours and be on call 24 hrs.
* Ability to handle pressure and stress without "losing" it.

To excel in this position you will require to meet the following:
* DEAT Qualification a must - if not then FGASA definately adventageous.
* Tourism experience a must - not negotiable.
* Previous management or previous Human Resources experience hugely adventageous.

Although based at our Cape Town Office you will also have to travel to our Somerset West Office from time to time. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced WEB DEVELOPER ADMINISTRATOR to take on the full responsibility for the day to day running of our Web Development and in house support functions. In order to qualify
for this position the ideal candidate will be a strong individual who can work on his own and take control of matters at hand. This individual will possess the following attributes and be fluent and professional in their daily conduct.

Duties will include (but not limited) to:
  • Deep expertise and hands on experience with Web Applications and programming languages such as PHP, HTML, JavaScript, JQuery and API's.
  • Building and testing Application Program Interfaces for applications to exchange dats.
  • Building and maintaining databases.
  • Meeting designers, developers and project staff for progress updates.
  • Designing the architecture of the components of an application.
  • Strong grasp of security principles and how they apply to E-Commerce applications.
  • Fixing bugs in existing projects.
  • Learning and testing new technologies, frameworks and languages.
  • And all other tasks related and associated with the web development sector.

The ideal candidate must possess the following attributes and skills:
  • PHP

Skills/Requirements:

  • Knowledgeable with Web User Interface Design, Security principles, Object-Oriented Design and web Services (REST / SOAP).

To excel in this position you will require to meet the following:
  • 3 Year degree in any of the applicable fields.
  • 3+ years of steady employment and related experience in the required fields.
  • Own reliable transport (business km's will be reimbursed).
  • Tourism Industry Experience hugely advantageous.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency a must and not negotiable.
